Wadiz(CEO Shin Hye-seong, www.wadiz.kr) is launching the “Find Your Supporters Through Crowdfunding” campaign to reduce the burden of starting a crowdfunding campaign for individuals and local makers and to expand opportunities for participation. The campaign aims to help those who—even without a finished product or established business foundation—have their own story and goals they wish to achieve; it supports them in testing the waters through crowdfunding and finding “supporters” who will back their projects.

The campaign will run from July through the end of the year. Wadizwill offer platform fee support to individual makers in the crowdfunding and fandom sectors, as well as local businesses and creators outside the Seoul metropolitan area. The company plans to support a diverse range of participants—including individuals, teenagers, college students, and creators—in sharing their stories and activities with the world, connecting with supporters who resonate with their work, and embarking on new challenges.

Individual creators who launch funding projects in the “Sponsorship & Fandom” category will receive 90% of the platform fees. This initiative reduces the financial burden so that creators can use crowdfunding to bring to life projects—ranging from creative endeavors like albums and performances to social welfare campaigns and community gatherings—that would be difficult to accomplish alone, and to connect with supporters who will help bring them to fruition.

Benefits for local creators have also been established. The platform will subsidize 50% of the platform fees for businesses and creators operating in regions outside of Seoul, the greater Seoul area, and major metropolitan cities. This initiative aims to help products and content that showcase unique local resources and stories reach more supporters and expand the network of “allies” who will champion the potential of local brands.

In fact, Wadiz, the challenges undertaken by various creators are leading to support and funding participation from backers. Notable examples include “BraveEAT,” a team of college students working to improve conditions for firefighters; artist Lee Gyeom-bi, who promoted her music without a management agency; and “Chilbaek Brewery,” a local startup that produces traditional liquor using homegrown cantaloupes and rice—all of whom have found people to support their respective endeavors through crowdfunding.

A Wadiz representative said, “Crowdfunding is a way for anyone with a story to share or a goal to achieve to take on a challenge,” adding, “We will support more individuals, creators, and local makers so they can showcase their ideas to the world, find ‘supporters’ who will back them, and create new possibilities.”
