If you ask who the Wadiz Kingmaker is, it’s the Success Support Team

February 20, 2023 | Job Interview, Team Wadiz

Who knows best how to craft stories that capture the hearts of supporters and use marketing strategies to boost project funding?

The people who help makers who stake their lives on their challenges succeed. Wadiz Kingmakers. We met with the Project Success Director and the Success Support Team!

Hello, could you please introduce yourself?

Jang Min-young: Hello. I’m Jang Min-young, Team Lead of the Success Support Team. I joined Wadiz2015. After working in project review, operations, and CX, I took a brief hiatus to have two children. Now I’m back—a working mom and a true pro. 😎
I’ve been happily working with the Success Support Team since the year before last! (I mean it!)

Baek Yoon-kyung: Hello. I’m Baek Yoon-kyung from the Success Support Team. I’m in charge of “Rocket Girl” on our team. I’m passionate about everything I do, and my fellow team members gave me this nickname because I’m the one who launches the team’s rockets!

Kim Ji-young: Hello! I’m Kim Ji-young from the Success Support Team. I joined the company five years ago and have been responsible for everything from project evaluation and operations to content production. Now, I use the expertise I’ve gained to provide direction and help makers achieve even greater success.

Please tell us about your current role and team!

Jang Min-young, Producer: The Success Support Team is a team comprised of . We possess the know-how and definitive answers to the question, “How can we successfully complete a project?”

Based on this expertise, we provide storytelling and PR/marketing consulting services to makers who choose the Expert plan from our four pricing options, helping them achieve project success.

We do truly exciting work. For makers who are pouring their hearts and souls into new product crowdfunding projects, we become a close-knit team and work together to bring their projects to life. We even help them come up with nicknames for their products.

The process of defining a new product’s positioning and unique selling proposition (USP) is a thrilling experience—it’s like creating something out of nothing. The Success Support Team works freely and joyfully, guided by the principle that they can do anything—as long as it involves “creating something from nothing,” is “fun,” and “benefits the company.”

Kim Ji-young, Producer: The role of Success Director (SD) is unique Wadiz. Simply put, we help makers achieve success with their projects.

We help creators present their products and stories in the most compelling way possible. From story consulting and strategic reward design to boosting strategies that drive funding participation, we provide consulting services to ensure the success of your entire Wadiz project journey—beyond just the product itself.

Because we’re an organization driven by tenacity and determination, we’re constantly thinking through and analyzing our projects—together with our makers (customers) and colleagues. Even when a project doesn’t yield the desired results, we work to build trust with our partners so they’ll return Wadizand take on new challenges.

In a nutshell, a game-changer? Even if a product is high-quality or the team is highly skilled, many find it most challenging to prepare a project Wadiz. This is because Wadizoperates in a different ecosystem than traditional e-commerce platforms. Often, there are 아쉬운 elements—such as trying to pack in too much information or failing to effectively showcase the project’s unique appeal. However, if you partner with SD on your project, it can actually become even more compelling. Since we’re helping makers transform the flow of their projects, the term “project changer”might be just right!

How did you come to join Wadiz?

Jang Min-young: I used to work as a service planner at SK Communications and Wemakeprice. I always had a deep desire to “do good with my skills.” Then, someone recommended a company where I could “make good money” while “doing good.” That company Wadiz.

At the time, we were a company of about 15 people. I remember really enjoying my work back then. The thought that the more I worked, the more positive impact I could have on the world! Knowing that I was helping makers get started made every minute of overtime feel worthwhile.

Baek Yoon-kyung, Project Manager: I first visited Wadizin 2020 as a funding creator. I was really impressed by the atmosphere at Wadiz and the way the project manager there worked. I thought to myself, “I want to work at a company like this,” and when the opportunity arose, I joined the team last year.

Kim Ji-young: I’ve always been interested in the startup ecosystem. Actually, it might be more accurate to say I’m interested in “the process of turning ideas into reality or the stories of entrepreneurs” rather than just startups themselves. Because of this, I had a few friends around me who dreamed of starting their own businesses. While sharing our concerns, I discovered the “crowdfunding” market, where students’ ideas can receive support and become a reality.

I was drawn to an ecosystem where people come together to see the potential in uncertain ideas and bring them to life, and I joined Wadizbecause I saw the potential Wadiz.

Job Interview Success Support Team

What are the most important skills and experience required for this role?

Jang Min-young, Professional: To enjoy working in the Success Support Team, “an eye for spotting the hidden appeal of products and services, and the ability to pinpoint key points.”. These skills can elevate the quality of your storytelling and lay the groundwork for effective PR and marketing.

The second is ‘the desire to help makers’. The Success Support Team is made up of truly warm-hearted people. No maker launches a new product half-heartedly. Everyone stakes their life savings and their very future on launching their product Wadiz. It’s essential to understand the challenges these makers face when writing their stories and handling promotion and marketing. Since we work as one team with the makers to elevate the quality of their projects, having a kind heart is crucial.

Do you have any current projects or tasks, or any memorable projects (as a maker)?

Baek Yoon-kyung: Recently , I worked on a kaymak projectfrom Turkey. There are many kaymak projects Wadiz. In this maker’s case, they reportedly dedicated themselves day and night for three years, traveling to Germany on business trips and back and forth to Turkey to import the product.

You were so proud of your product that I was determined to make it a success. Fortunately, it turned out great. The maker was thrilled, and I felt such a sense of accomplishment—it’s a memory that really sticks with me! I hope to continue supporting many more projects from sincere makers like this in the future.

Kim Ji-young: Although I wasn’t directly in charge of the project, the brand“Basrak”really stands out in my memory. Actually, the founder is a friend of mine. It was thanks to this friend that I first learned Wadiz. We used to talk about our shared interest in entrepreneurship, and eventually, we met again Wadiz—me as Wadiz crowdfunding Wadiz and my friend as the founder of an outdoor brand.

We launched the brand Wadiz, and I was able to help them get started by sharing my expertise in crowdfunding. After that, I watched the brand grow up close as they received offers to expand into other distribution channels. Since I shared the same dream with this friend and we made our debuts together, it was bound to be a meaningful experience.

Do you have any personal convictions or principles that you always try to uphold at work?

Jang Min-young, Producer: I really like the phrase, “I enjoy riding the waves of rapid change and staying ahead.” Wadizis right at the center of rapidly shifting trends. The more a platform grows, the more dramatic the changes become. People who fear change or are resistant to it actually aren’t a good fit Wadiz. It’s a place where you have to quickly formulate and test hypotheses just to survive.

That’s why I believe you actually need the right skills to “enjoy” the rapid pace of change and to “stay ahead” in the midst of it all. I think the Success Support Team is made up of such “pros” and “players” who are truly enjoying these rapid changes. 😉

Baek Yoon-kyung: Among the 5 principles, “We meet each other’s needs as a team”resonates with me the most. We often face stress from dealing with people at work, don’t we? Wadiz, I felt for the first time that this stress could be alleviated through our relationships, and that I actually enjoyed working. I’m always grateful to see my teammates willingly stepping in to support me where I fall short. I’m striving to be that kind of person myself.

When do you feel happiest working Wadiz?

Baek Yoon-kyung: For me , it’s the moment when I hear “thank you” from the makers, even though I was just doing my job. Since SDs work directly with the makers, the sense of fulfillment outweighs the challenges.

Kim Ji-young: Isn’t it when you’re in a place you love, surrounded by great colleagues, that everything just clicks?

Wadiz, our professionals grow by setting goals and staying motivated, rather than just going through the motions. We have many colleagues who thrive in a fast-paced environment. Even when opinions differ, we debate to find better solutions; we see feedback as an opportunity for growth rather than a source of hurt; and because we value each other’s input, we share our thoughts more actively. As a result, we spend a lot of time discussing how to achieve our shared goals.

If you spend most of your day with colleagues who have different goals and frequently clash with you, those long hours would be pretty tough. But the best part about working here is that I get to spend my time with colleagues I really click with.

What kind of new colleagues would you like to work with in the future?
If you have any tips for those interested in joiningWadiz, please share them!

Jang Min-young: Just hearing the word "new colleague" gets me excited! (Please come join us soon! There’s no team as great as this one!!!)
We’d love to meet someone who lovesWadizand wants to do great work with a kind heart. We’re also looking for someone who has the patience to willingly help a colleague struggling with a task. If you enjoy new things and love offering advice like, “You shouldn’t do it this way~” while looking at Wadiz projects, you’re welcome here. 😁 (And if you like braised kimchi too…)

Baek Yoon-kyung: There isn’t a single colleague on the Success Support Team who has the same personality as another. It’s truly amazing how well everyone gets along. One thing we all have in common is that we have a “spark” in our hearts. We warmly support colleagues who are struggling, boldly take on new challenges, and are always ready to go all out—so anyone with that inner spark is always welcome!

My experience as a creator running a crowdfunding project was incredibly helpful when I joined the company. Since crowdfunding is a unique system not found elsewhere, simply having a good understanding of it will give you an edge in interviews. Since you’ll be meeting with creators, I highly recommend giving it a try.

Kim Ji-young: I’d love to work with a colleague who has a knack for data . Since numbers can reveal so much, someone with the ability to interpret data objectively, approach problems systematically, and spot patterns would be a huge asset. I’d love to learn from them as well!

If I had to offer my own tip for joining the company, here’s what I’d say: First, Wadizhas many successful projects. Rather than simply listing projects that everyone already knows about, try to think from the user’s perspective. Build up your own insights by exploring the platform from the perspectives of both makers and supporters.

Second, why did the project I was interested in succeed? If you think a product is great but it didn’t perform as well as expected, what might be the reason? Try conducting a self-assessment of your project—ask yourself how you could have done better and what drew people’s attention. It will be very helpful!
