Wadiz crowdfunding campaign for works by ‘contemporary art master’ Park Seo-bo is generating buzz

Creative works that reflect artists' unique inspirations are gaining attention through crowdfunding.

Wadizlife design crowdfunding platform Wadizannounced that active crowdfunding in the arts sector is drawing attention, led by an exclusive collaboration between "contemporary art master" Park Seo-bo and the Italian luxury homeware brand Alessi.

Park Seo-bo is a master of monochrome painting, a major movement in Korean modern abstract art, and is internationally renowned for his “Myobop” series, characterized by the repetitive drawing of lines on the canvas. The four prints (Yellow, Gray, Pink, and Pencil) offered in this funding round—a limited edition worth a total of 24 million won—sold out immediately upon release.

The purpose of this funding campaign is to provide the public with an opportunity to acquire works by acclaimed artists whose content has traditionally been difficult to access, while also helping them discover more meaningful hobbies through Wadiz. For the artists, the goal is to move beyond the limitations of the existing art market and use crowdfunding as a storytelling channel to connect with the public in an authentic way.

Above all, the rewards for this crowdfunding campaign are generating buzz not only for the prints but also for the wine opener, which has been reimagined in collaboration with the Italian luxury homeware brand “Alessi” and is available for pre-order. Limited to just 1,500 units worldwide, this special edition is available Wadizin a limited run of 200 sets per color, featuring a special bundle that includes a wine-chilling bag and wine glass coasters.

“Art & Edition,” the platform launching this crowdfunding campaign, stated, “This campaign will provide an opportunity to acquire works by an artist with a unique market value of hundreds of millions of won in a more accessible and practical way,” adding, “It will be a special gift that satisfies everyone, from fans of Park Seo-bo to wine enthusiasts.”

최근 와디즈는 박서보 작가의 펀딩 외에도 드라마 <우리들의 블루스>로 인기를 얻은 정은혜 작가의 판화 에디션,  ‘극사실주의 판타지’로 이름난 정우재 작가의 100점 한정  ‘Afterglow’ 시리즈, 스페인 작가 하비에르 카예하가 디즈니와 콜라보한 국내 최초 론칭 ‘미키 마우스 에디션 피규어’ 등 아티스트들의 활발한 펀딩을 지원하고 있다.

미술작가 외에도 애니메이션 <너의 이름은> 신카이 마코토 감독의 원작 소설 세트와 신작 <스즈메의 문단속> 스페셜 공식 굿즈를 단독으로 선보여 현재 3억 이상의 펀딩금을 모으는 등 컬처 전반의 인기가 돋보인다. 지난 10일 리뉴얼한 성수동 ‘공간 와디즈’는 벽체 3면 빔 프로젝터, 조명, 스피커 등  갤러리형 구조를 지하1층에 전면 도입하며 아티스트와 크리에이터를 위한 소통의 문을 활짝 열었다 .
