A Wadiz Intern's Hands-On Review of a Project Product: A Firsthand Look at the Crowdfunding Scene

Goodbye
In Turkish, ‘Goodbye’.
Goodbye, everyone… Now that I’ve tasted real kaymak, I’ve decided to return to Turkey. I guess Türkiye really is my home. No. How delicious does it have to be to make me say this? For those who want to go to heaven with just one bite, those who want to experience a feast in their mouths, and for those who think the kaymak they’ve eaten so far was just so-so—this is for you.

Let's get started with the crowdfunding event!

Forget everything you knew about kaymak

"If this is your first time trying kaymak, just keep this in mind." I’m sorry. Was I being too arrogant? There’s a reason for my arrogance. First, let me introduce the basic ingredients of real kaymak!

Kaymak

From left to right Labneh, kaymak, honey sticks, and bread🤤 Of these, I’ll show you the kaymak first, since that’s probably what you’re most curious about.

Kaymak

I was surprised the moment I saw the texture, even before tasting the Real Kaymak. Can you sense how chewy and dense it looks even through the screen? 🤤

By any chance have you ever as having a “buttery texture”?? (Because that’s what I thought, too.) If it weren’t for this chewy kaymak, you haven’t really tasted kaymak yet! Actually, “real” kaymak is made using well-fermented conditions and local Turkish raw milk, so there’s a big difference in taste and texture. After looking into it, sure enough, I found that authentic kaymak—with its thick, chewy texture—originates from Turkey.

This time, I tried out TEKSUTis said to be the most popular kaymak and dairy brand even in Turkey. It has a strong, chewy texture at first, then melts in your mouth…? 🤩

How to Make Kaymak 200 Times More Delicious

I imagine kaymak might be unfamiliar to many of you! So, here’s a participant who won first place in the Dr. Yum Yum Contest(one contestant) will show you how to enjoy kaymak.

1. Just eat it~

Kaymak

After all, delicious food tastes best when you can savor its natural flavor! When you scoop up a big spoonful of kaymak and take a big bite, the rich, nutty flavor really hits you— it’s almost like eating creamy gelato…🍦

2. With honey…🍯

Kaymak

To suit your taste, drizzle some of the included honey on top for a sweeter, creamier treat! I’m a total sweet tooth, so I found it much tastier when I drizzled plenty of honey on top!

3. With bread…🥖

Kaymak

It's so delicious when you pile on a generous amount of kaymak and drizzle some honey over it. You can munch on it endlessly until it’s all gone! So, I ended up baking all the rye bread I had at home. It seems to goes well with it. Since the kaymak is so creamy, it went even better with bread that was baked until crispy. Long live kaymak!!!! 😭

But... labneh? What's that?

When I first introduced the lineup, I mentioned “labneh” along with kaymak. I think it might be even less familiar than kaymak.

Kaymak

This is labneh! Labneh is a highly concentrated yogurt made from kaymak milk. It has a unique flavor that’s somewhere between cheese and yogurt.

Kaymak

Labneh has a rich, cheesy flavor with a refreshing yogurt taste! If you eat some sweet kaymak and then try some labneh, you won’t get sick of it—you can eat it endlessly.

Kaymak

Above all, the bread that comes with the set tastes the absolute best when toasted until crispy! If you cut the salted bread (one of the items in the set) in half and pop it in the toaster, the butter in the bread melts deliciously, making it a perfect match for the labneh 🤩
