Wadiz Sees 158% Growth in Book, Art, and Kids Crowdfunding in the First Half of the Year

On the 17th, Wadizreleased its analysis of first-half funding trends, revealing that the books, art, and kids categories saw an average growth of 158% compared to the same period last year.

By category, the highest growth rate in funding was recorded for Books at 218%, followed by Art (195%), Kids (50%), and Food (18%).

The book sector, in particular, attracted significant attention as all of the top 10 projects secured funding in the hundreds of millions of won. Children’s books accounted for 31% of these projects, highlighting a clear synergy with the kids’ sector.

In the kids' category, crowdfunding for maternity and childcare products accounted for 49% of the total. Wadizanalyzed that this growth trend is linked to the overall expansion of the domestic kids' industry.

In fact, according to Statistics Korea, the number of births in South Korea in April of this year was approximately 20,000, an 8.7% increase compared to the same period last year. With the rebound in the birth rate and the rise of millennial parents who prioritize practicality, the kids’ sector is emerging as a new growth driver Wadiz.

특히 <국민 아기전집 추피의 생활이야기>(7억 원), <악스키드 스핀키드 카시트>(3억 원) 등 영유아를 타깃으로 한 프로젝트들이 연이어 흥행에 성공하며 카테고리 성장을 이끌었다.

아트 분야에서는 <영상으로 보는 인체 자료집>이 약 두 달 만에 9억 원의 펀딩을 달성하며 화제를 모았다. 특히, 미국·프랑스·멕시코 등에서 결제가 일어나 국내뿐만 아니라 해외 고객에게도 주목받았다.

또한, 가야미술주조의 <청동 반가사유상>, 로에베 파이널리스트의 <오브제 테이블> 등 30만원~100만원 이상의 고가 예술 작품의 거래가 늘었다. 연이은 아트 펀딩의 흥행으로 와디즈는 예술 작품의 새로운 유통처로 입지를 강화하고 있다.

Wadizplans to continue expanding the range of projects eligible for funding and to enhance its infrastructure to foster mutual growth with local small businesses and emerging brands.

The company plans to enhance AI technology—including the introduction of AI agents and the automation of ad reviews—to improve access to funding and user convenience, and to support makers’ sustained growth through monthly promotional campaigns and marketing assistance.

A Wadiz representative said, “Even amid a sluggish domestic market, new challenges continued to emerge, and as a result, we saw notable growth in sectors such as kids’ products and art.” They added, “Moving forward, we will continue to be a platform where makers can discover new markets and supporters can explore new interests through Wadizunique and differentiated funding ecosystem.”
