Wadiz Money: Stories of Projects Funded Through Wadiz, Ep. 1

August 2, 2022 | How We Work, Team Wadiz

Whenever Wadizget together in small groups, there’s one topic they almost always end up discussing.

“Have you used up all your points?” “What did you back with your points?”

This is about the Wadiz Funding Points (a welfare program) that provides 1 million won annually to support the lifestyle choices Wadizforward-thinking Wadiz.

Life design funding platform Wadiz(CEO Shin Hye-seong) announced on the 2nd an improved recruitment and benefits program for 2022, featuring personalized “100 Autonomous Positions,” a “20% signing bonus for all employees,” and the provision of “1 million won in Wadiz funding points annually.” (Maeil Business Newspaper)

Just like a bonus paycheck, the joy of seeing points credited to my account one day is short-lived. I immediately start thinking, “How can I use these points in a way that gets people talking?” Wadizoffers a wide range of products and services for various lifestyles, from tech, beauty, and food to intangible services like photo shoots. Since there’s no guarantee that a project that perfectly suits my taste will always be available, I sometimes find myself playing a game of guesswork. Given the nature of crowdfunding—where products are often being unveiled to the world for the first time—it’s not easy to find reviews either.

That’s exactly why I’m even more curious about how my colleagues used their points, and for some reason, I have a lot of trust in projects funded Wadiz.

WadizMembers' "Wadiz Projects I've Funded". As a result, we noticed a curious phenomenon—and that is none other than!

Wadizare divided into two camps: the “more is better” faction, who split their points into smaller amounts to fund many projects, and and the “all-in” faction, who pour all their funds into a single large-scale project!

In this chapter, let’s meet

The "sunflower type" who only has eyes for one creator: CX Team's "L"

“I’d say half of my funding comes from Piccadilly.”

When I visited L Pro after receiving a tip that there was a die-hard fan who blew through the 250,000 points they received every quarter as soon as they got them, this was the first thing they said to me.

You're the only superstar, L Pro! I'm so jealous.

Piccadilly is a line of flight attendant shoes from the Brazilian brand Piccadilly, and it made its debut Wadizthrough an official partnership with the manufacturer, Save Hills. L Pro used the points they received to fund no fewer than three Piccadilly projects! They highlighted one of Piccadilly’s unique strengths—a feature that has driven five successful funding campaigns so far—noting that “even after wearing them for a long time, your feet don’t hurt, just like sneakers.”

In particular, the recently concluded Piccadilly Twist Slippers, she couldn’t stop praising them, saying, “I can’t believe how soft and fluffy these slippers are—I can’t wear any other shoes now.”

At this point, Maker! I think I need to give L Pro the title of honorary fan club president 😉

The veteran of the peach crowdfunding scene, "K" from the Maker Experience Management Team

Every summer, Wadiz Food category turns pink with juicy summer fruits. I’m a well-known peach lover myself, but meeting K Pro made me realize I have a lot to learn. Over the course of June alone, K Pro funded a whopping five projects using nothing but points.

NAfter seeing their impressive track record of successful funding campaigns and realizing we share the same taste through "Ddakbokpa," I developed complete trust in them. We chatted, and before I knew it, I’d backed the project myself. Now I’m eagerly waiting for the campaign to end and for my order to ship.

I'll get ready, too.

Behind the Scenes: The Food Funding Developer, 'K' from the FE Development Team

“Actually… I’ve backed a lot of projects.”

K Pro, who shyly shared their crowdfunding success K Pro, who shyly shared their funding success,  is a member of the Funding Exploration Team Alpha, , which makes me trust them even more. I asked which “well-funded items” stood out among their point purchases, and they recommended a whopping six! The fact that they were all food projects made me wonder, “Is K Pro’s alter ego a food pioneer?” 🤣

As expected, when it comes to a pro who specializes in food... I have complete trust in them.

The number one pick by K Pro is Sugar Mangofrom Thailand, and second place went to Jimmy & Jack, a maker that has taken the Wadiz coffee scene by storm, with their black teafrom Jimmy & Jack, the maker who has taken the Wadiz coffee scene by storm. I really love black tea myself, so I’m thinking of aiming for an encore funding round based on the recommendation from Dr. K, the food funding expert.

After 22 funding rounds, I finally found the perfect one—Bro, ‘O’ from the Maker Experience Management Team

O Pro, a pioneer of the "the more, the merrier" approach who has backed 22 projects using points, shared this review about the project he was most satisfied with.

“It’s just crazy.”
“I watch this when I’m feeling stressed at work—it’s so cute and really soothes me ㅠㅠ”
“It’s pure comfort.”

The stars of this review are none other than the Monster Pet friends! I heard that O Pro even did some research on his own out of curiosity about this ecosystem. He said the more he learned, the more appealing the project became. I also found myself rooting for the maker’s genuine communication. So I backed the campaign right away—and I’m absolutely thrilled with the results!

Here are the three cute friends—Wa, Di, and Zu—who are currently keeping watch by the team’s window.

On the day these guys arrived at the office, Producer O was working from home, so they even held an unboxing video conference 😁

"Your Points, My Points" Style: Project Review Team 2's "P"

Here is a devoted professional who has used up all their points for their family.

“Mom’s strap, a plain bar, my little sister’s gua sha tool, a bralette, boxer shorts…”

Despite listing one crowdfunding project after another, P Pro—a member of the “the more, the merrier” camp—doesn’t have a single project of their own on their list. Since letting their family know about the crowdfunding points, they’ve noticed that their family members have been checking the Wadiz app much more frequently than before. The list of projects they’ve liked, which had been steadily growing, was gradually paid for one by one using P Pro’s points. In this way, P Pro’s points merely passed through their account briefly.

Actually, P Pro feels a sense of pride knowing that his family enjoys crowdfunding and makes good use of the rewards. Especially the smartwatch strapwas a product P Pro personally searched for and gifted to his mother, who had been uncomfortable with her old one. In September, the third round of crowdfunding points will be distributed, and we’re curious to see whether P Pro will give all his points to his family again—we’re eager to find out what he’ll do with them.

You have an excellent eye for colors, Mom!

Even among those who believe that "more is better," Wadizboasts a wide variety of funding styles. It’s truly charming and fascinating to see how everyone uses their points to design their own unique lifestyles.

So, let’s take a look at which projects Daedaeiksunpa has been focusing its efforts on.

Stay tuned for the next episode! Wadonnafun continues 😉
