Wadizhas partnered with Daewon CI to officially launch its business in the rapidly growing comic and content IP sector.
Life Design funding platform Wadizannounced on the 14th that it has entered into a strategic partnership with Daewon CI, South Korea’s largest content company.
Daewon CI is Korea’s largest content distribution company, handling popular manga and magazines such as *Slam Dunk*, *Suzume*, *One Piece*, and *Pokémon*, and is expanding its business scope from manga publishing to include digital content, publishing, and IP development.
This business agreement aims to expand business opportunities that can generate synergies, such as IP product development and crowdfunding campaigns. The two companies plan to connect Daewon CI’s diverse portfolio of comic IPs with Wadiznetwork of small-to-medium-sized manufacturers to launch and distribute products through crowdfunding campaigns at least five times a year.
와디즈에 따르면, 올해 1~8월 기준 ‘캐릭터·굿즈’ 카테고리 펀딩 규모가 전년 동기 대비 134% 성장, 참여 서포터 수는 90% 증가하는 등 최근 들어 큰 폭의 성장세를 보이고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 대표적으로 <스즈메의문단속>, <슈가슈가룬>, <코난> 등 탄탄한 팬덤을 형성하고 있는 콘텐츠의 공식 굿즈가 억대 펀딩을 기록하며 상위권에 포진, 카테고리의 성장을 이끌었다.
Wadiz CEO Shin Hye-sung said, “Comic content is a key area of interest for Wadiz 5.5 million supporters and a driving force behind funding in the creator sector,” adding, “Through our collaboration with Daewon CI, we will introduce a diverse range of IP merchandise and innovative products that fans have long been eager to see.”
