Almost 3 years old— Wadizthese days?

September 22, 2022 | Service Stories, Wadiz News

In April 2020, "Space Wadiz," Wadizoffline venue, opened in Seongsu.

It was created to convey the appeal of crowdfunding to as many people as possible.. Space Wadizbegan as a place where makers could demonstrate their products firsthand—in other words, share their stories—and where supporters could discover something new in their daily lives. It served to bridge the gap between the two main players in crowdfunding and connect them.

It’s been well over two years. Moving beyond its original mission of “showcasing and discovering rewards and the value they embody,” Wadiznow fulfills its role as a “cultural space where we create value together.”

Makers tell their brand stories in a variety of ways. Supporters experience these stories with all their senses. Through this process, they discover new possibilities and gain joy, passion, and courage.

Wadizis a space where all five senses come alive for both makers and supporters. It’s a playground that satisfies all five senses!

Wadiz: A Space for the Five Senses

Space Wadizconsists of a courtyard, an open-air area, and levels ranging from the basement to the rooftop. We visited Space Wadizin August and September to fully experience the possibilities each space holds and how they engage all five of our senses. (Thanks, Space Team!)

A place to savor food and share stories: Space Madang

A spectacular feast for the senses unfolds at the Wadiz Courtyard. This late summer, the seasonal fruit shop “Single Market” and food crowdfunding tasting events delighted the taste buds and noses of visitors Wadiz.

Welcome! This is a singles market with a story.

Many people enjoyed the courtyard, where tasting events were held.

Here, people don’t just “taste” the products; they use “taste” as a way to connect with the makers. It is through this connection that their senses of taste and smell are truly awakened.

This space is not merely a showroom for buying and selling products; it is a community where people come together to share stories through products.

A place where thoughts blend with the three senses: the classroom

In the basement of Space Wadiz, a variety of classes are held that engage the senses of hearing, sight, and touch. One of the venue’s greatest attractions is that it leaves you with plenty to think about.

Last August, "Let's Start with OO" was a three-part series of classes where influencers who have achieved success in various fields—such as social media, blogging, and book curation—shared their expertise. It was so popular that registration closed quickly after opening, and additional seats had to be added.

I looked up reviews from participants on social media. From those who found the experience moving to those who felt motivated, and those who discovered a clue as to what they should do next, I could see how this class had given each person something to reflect on in their own lives.

With Chuseok just around the corner, a bojagi workshop was held in collaboration with the Cheong-a-rang Bojagi Studio. Participants learned how to create a visually delightful holiday with just a touch of creativity, including techniques for wrapping boxes, tying knots around bottles, and making bojagi bags.

Bojagi is a common item, yet few people truly understand its depth. We took some time to explore its history and various facts. Afterward, we learned how to wrap items in bojagi and had a chance to try it ourselves. It was harder than expected, and as we wrestled with the fabric, we soon found ourselves creating a presentable piece. The sense of accomplishment was twice as great.

When I focus on wrapping the gift in a traditional Korean cloth, the "wandering thoughts" that have been troubling me disappear from my mind as if they were never there.

The delight of the "rustling" sensation you feel as you wrap the fabric is a gift from Wadiz.

An interactive zone where you can chew, tear, taste, and enjoy

The first floor is a space dedicated to products currently seeking funding, all striving for success. As you touch and try out the most out-of-the-box products across various categories—the kind that make you exclaim, “I didn’t even know such a thing existed!”—you’ll find that time has flown by before you know it.

In one corner of the spacious product experience area, there are two rooms known as "concept rooms." These spaces, which spark curiosity, offer experiences designed to delight all five senses.

In August, a burst of color filled the Wadiz Room. Beeple, a maker specializing in fruit crowdfunding who hosted a pop-up market in the courtyard, helped people discover their personal colors using the hues of seasonal fruits. Upon stepping into the fruit-colored booths set up in each of the two rooms, you could clearly tell whether you were a cool or warm tone.

In the special zone next to the concept room on the first floor, visitors could participate in a collectible card project commemorating the Qatar World Cup. One wall was completely covered with messages of support for our national team players.

If you wrote a message of encouragement, you could enter a card pack giveaway. Not only could you write a message and win a card pack, but if you shared this fun experience on social media, you could also receive a Coca-Cola. It appeals to all your senses—touch, sight, and sound—and even satisfies your taste buds! How could you not join in right away?

Space Store: Where the delight for all five senses continues

On the second floor, there’s a store where you can purchase successfully funded products. You can touch and try out products that have been recognized by many supporters, and if it’s food, you can buy it and eat it right there. There’s a lounge area set up for that purpose.

I spotted a crew member on the second floor wearing a "Today's STAFF Challenge" name tag.
What are they challenging? Rock-paper-scissors!

WadizSpace Wadiz, a Chuseok event featuring fruit, rock, and a wrapping cloth was held. If you beat today’s staff member at rock-paper-scissors, you can receive a Chuseok gift. Feeling confident that I would win, I boldly shouted, “Challenge!”

Rock, Paper, Scissors

Sometimes, a little wishful thinking works like magic and makes things come true. I won in a single round! As a prize, I received a cute Jin-gook phone grip and a pen.

When I was a kid, I’d often play at the playground after school, and before I knew it, the blue sky would turn red. It’s the same Wadiz. If you let yourself get lost in the experience and play while your five senses are fully engaged, you’ll find that quite a bit of time has passed.

Saying that we go to Wadiz simply to view products currently seeking funding doesn’t fully capture Wadizrole. It’s more accurate to say that we go there to meet brands and makers, to share their potential and value in various ways, and to connect with them through all five senses. It’s just like heading to a playground to hang out with friends.
