– From real-time translation to meeting minutes in a snap… AI-powered digital note-taking app surpasses 300 million won in funding in just one day
– Handwriting class projects continue to attract tens of millions in funding
Crowdfunding Platform Wadizannounced that its "AI Note" project, recently launched on its platform, surpassed 300 million won in funding just one day after its launch.
The "iFLYTEK AI Note," unveiled Wadiz, is an "e-ink" display that supports voice recognition in 15 languages, text and handwriting recognition in 83 languages, and real-time translation in 10 languages. It offers features such as automatic meeting note generation and summarization, as well as AI search.
This project is being exclusively launched in Korea Wadiz, and it has generated significant anticipation even before its launch, with over 6,000 people signing up for notifications.
It replicates the perfect texture of paper, making writing and note-taking as comfortable and natural as writing on actual paper, yet it has gained immense popularity, particularly among early adopters, thanks to its precise conversion capabilities and technology powered by ChatGPT.
According Wadiz, a culture in which writing by hand is considered “cool” is spreading, particularly among Gen Z. In particular, this trend has evolved from hand-copying text on paper to writing on digital screens and even creating custom fonts.
On Wadiz, from January to May of this year (as of the 10th), projects featuring keywords such as “handwriting,” “fountain pen,” and “calligraphy” saw a 211% increase in funding amounts and a 140% increase in the number of funded transactions.
In particular, projects worth hundreds of millions of won have emerged this year. A “handwriting class” taught by the creator of the “Mikkot” font—selected by Forbes—surpassed 400 million won in funding in just four days and raised 740 million won within a month, exceeding its goal by 149,637%.
The "Sido Seom Handwriting Class" project, which has been running from April 25 to May 16, continues to be a hit. Despite class passes priced between 100,000 and 500,000 won—a relatively high price point—the project has surpassed 14 million won as of the 12th, achieving 2,833% of its original goal.
A Wadiz representative explained, “Handwriting is emerging as a new form of self-expression,” adding, “Customers who view the act of writing by hand as a harmless form of therapy are responding enthusiastically to related crowdfunding projects.”
