Wadiz, which operates South Korea’s largest crowdfunding platform, announced on the 5th that it had invited 15 officials and experts from Uzbekistan’s economic policy agencies—including the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Central Bank, and the Ministry of Digital Technologies—to Wadiz in Pangyo.

This visit is part of the “Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP),” organized by the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Korea Development Institute (KDI), and was arranged to share South Korea’s fintech innovation cases and strategies aimed at revitalizing Uzbekistan’s financial services market. Uzbekistan is one of the partner countries from the inaugural year of the KSP, and this year, policy consultations on the fintech regulatory sandbox are being conducted based on the Ministry of Economy and Finance’s program requirements.

The Uzbek delegation, consisting of officials and experts from economic policy ministries responsible for designing and operating financial regulatory sandbox systems, reportedly visited major fintech companies such as Wadiz, Toss, and KakaoPay over two days from May 31 to June 1.

Wadizpresented to the Uzbek delegation as a leading example of crowdfunding innovation in Korea, sharing details on the service’s launch and growth, business structure, and operational know-how. The delegation expressed strong interest in the various successful funding campaigns on Wadiz platform and its sophisticated risk management system, and noted with interest that a significant proportion of the service’s users are in their 20s and 30s.

An Uzbek official stated, “We needed new and innovative models, such as crowdfunding, for investment in Uzbekistan’s fintech sector and the design of related policies,” adding, “We expect that the crowdfunding industry established Wadiz, along with various South Korean fintech companies, will greatly contribute to the development of Uzbekistan’s financial sector.”

A Wadiz representative said, “It is an honor to introduce crowdfunding to officials and experts from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Economy as a success story of Korea’s innovative fintech industry,” adding, Wadizwill continue to build the expertise and experience needed to drive innovation in the fintech industry.”
