January 19, 2023 | Job Interview, Team Wadiz

A "Project Director" at Wadiz who leads the entire process—from sourcing projects to their successful launch on the funding platform.

Today, we met with the Sourcing and Sales PD Team, who are always one step ahead in identifying the latest trends at the forefront of the crowdfunding ecosystem!

Hello, could you please introduce yourself?

Ryu Su-ji: Hello. I’m Ryu Su-ji, Team Leader of Wadiz Fashion Team 1. I’m widely recognized as the best PD in the fashion industry. I’ve also been instrumental in creating numerous projects alongside the diverse fashion makers active Wadiz. 😁

Kim Mi-ri, Producer: Hello . I’m Kim Mi-ri, Funding Director Wadiz. I’ve worked with over 1,000 companies and launched more than 600 funding projects, contributing to the growth of a wide variety of brands. I’m dedicated to helping makers succeed with Wadiz!

Please tell us about your current role and team!

Ryu Su-ji, Producer: The Fashion 1 Team is made up of PDs who specialize in the fashion category. We discover a wide range of fashion creators and work together through meetings to develop projects that are a great fit Wadiz. In particular, we have a culture where we provide honest feedback on each other’s projects while respecting and supporting one another’s areas of expertise.

Kim Mi-ri: To put it simply, my job is “project directing.” I’m part of the Beauty Team, where I meet various new beauty creators and work hard alongside them to help them grow. Specifically, my responsibilities include “identifying promising companies,” “consulting onWadiz reward projects,” and “directing project storytelling and marketing.”

How did you come to join Wadiz?

Ryu Su-ji: I joined the company after working as a fashion magazine reporter and a fashion buyer. Even before that, I had been working in roles that involved meeting and communicating with many fashion companies. As I did so, I began to wonder what practical steps I could take to help smaller companies. I concluded that “crowdfunding” was the answer, and that’s how I came to join Wadiz.

Kim Mi-ri: When I was in college , I did an internship at a beauty company in New York. That’s when I first became interested in the beauty industry. After that, I worked for about a year at a social commerce platform as a merchandiser specializing in children’s products, handling both consignment and direct purchasing.
I happened to come across Wadizprinciple of “doing the right thing,”and that’s when I decided, “I have to apply to work atWadiz.” I thought, “The work I do could actually help society!” Even now, I always strive to live by that principle.

What are the most important skills and experience required for this role?

Ryu Su-ji, Producer: A producer doesn’t need just one skill. A wide range of skills—including sales, marketing, and planning—are required. Among these, the most important skill is a “sales mindset.” We’d love to have people join us who enjoy finding and meeting brands that are a good fit Wadizand discussing ideas with makers. While extensive knowledge of fashion is certainly helpful, we welcome anyone with curiosity, interest, and passion—even if your fashion knowledge is a bit limited!

Do you have any current projects or tasks, or any memorable projects (as a maker)?

Kim Mi-ri: The “Team More Whitening Toothpaste Project,” which is still in the top rankings, stands out the most in my memory. Since the main funding campaign launched on January 6, it hasn’t dropped out of the rankings even once. I think it might be the longest-running project ever to stay in the top rankings!
But there’s another reason why this project really stands out to me. The maker has been consistently running campaigns Wadiz. Even when their project performance was stagnating, they decided to take another leap forward by preparing a new project with me. Throughout the process, they showed such passion. As a result, we were able to raise over 150 million won. It’s one of the projects that’s been giving me the most energy lately.

Do you have any personal convictions or principles that you always try to uphold at work?

Ryu Su-ji, Producer: I always keep one ofWadiz Five Principles in mind as I work: “We leave positive memories with our partners and customers.” I think the producer is the person who meets the most partners and customers out of everyone at Wadiz! That’s why this principle feels even more important to me. I always pause to consider whether we’re a maker who leaves a good impression on our supporters, and whether today’s meeting with me left a positive impression on the maker.
Even when launching a single project, I always direct it while carefully considering how our supporters will react.

Kim Mi-ri: I always work with the mindset that “we leave a positive impression on our partners and customers.” As a sales representative, I consider myself the face Wadizand communicate with partners responsibly.
I also consistently gather and organize insights to build my expertise as a PD. I strive to provide information that is helpful to our makers.
My conviction and principle is to give my all in every moment with the mindset of growing together with our makers.

When do you feel happiest working Wadiz?

Kim Mi-ri: Above all , when the projects I’m managing go well, I feel happy and a great sense of fulfillment too. 😊
I also find small moments of happiness when chatting with colleagues and sharing insights about various work-related topics! And when I come across a product that makes me think, “Wow! This is really great,” and I can’t wait to turn it into a project.
The fact that I can feel joy and excitement while working is what I love most Wadiz.

What kind of new colleagues would you like to work with in the future?
If you have any “personal tips for joiningWadiz” to share with those interestedWadiz, please let us know!

Ryu Su-ji, Producer: A colleague who will bring a breath of fresh air toWadiz Fashion! If you’ve ever wondered, “Why isn’t there a project like this Wadiz?”, don’t hesitate—apply now for the Wadiz Sourcing/Sales Producer position!

Kim Mi-ri: I’d love to work with colleagues who have hobbies or talents that I don’t possess. Whenever I source a new product, I strive to come up with fresh ideas—whether it’s crafting copy with a unique story or planning advertising campaigns. I’d like to have colleagues who can join me in creating creative and fun narratives. Plus, I’d love to work with colleagues who have a positive mindset and enjoy taking on new challenges!

As a tip for applying, take some time to analyze the Wadiz market—look into which projects are currently performing well and identify any untapped markets. Based on that, I recommend thinking ahead about your aspirations, such as, “If I join Wadiz, this is what I’d like to do!” I also highly recommend participating in a campaign as a backer at least once—leave comments in the community and sign the support petition. This will help you understand Wadiz funding even better. 😉
