Jinguk World Planning Notes

Please introduce yourself!

안녕하세요. <진국월드> 채널을 기획하고 <진국인> 콘텐츠를 구성해 왔던 기획자 J입니다.

What is the planning note you will be revealing today?

진국월드의 인터뷰 시리즈인 <진국인>을 소개합니다. 말 그대로 ‘진국인’ 사람들을 인터뷰하고 가치를 풀어내는 콘텐츠예요.

<진국인>은 왜 만들게 됐나요?

"Something true without falsehood, or such a person." This is the definition of 'Jinguk' found in the dictionary. Wadiz At Wadiz , we call each other "Jinguk" and are so sincere about this word that we even created cute characters for it. I wanted to create content that could promote "Jinguk," the representative identity of Wadiz . I wanted to continuously talk about and spread the values of our people, the Jinguk people.

흥미로운데요. 그럼, <진국인>은 어떤 내용을 담고 있나요?

It captures the unique value of the interviewee. While there is plenty of content containing positive values, we illuminated the entire life rather than just fragmentary parts, bringing out the unique value contained within.
While researching the interviewee, I found that the values he pursues did not stem from a single event or specific aspect alone. Therefore, I captured the story by surveying his entire life and delving deeply into the key points.

The interviewee's life must be subtly woven into the content.

That's right. So, tracing the trajectory of the interviewee's life is the key point to watch.
At the end, our signature ending line, "You are truly genuine," comes out, and trying to guess it is one of the fun parts. We also used to go to the filming location with the anticipation of wondering, "What kind of line has the interviewee prepared?"

Jinguk World Planning Notes

By what criteria were the Jinguk-in selected?

We have selected Wadiz makers or people who promote good values .

So many genuine people appeared on the show. How did you go about casting them?

I personally recruited them. When I found a genuine individual who is changing the world , I thoroughly studied their life to personalize and concretize their values . Then, I earnestly explained the values you wish to convey via email, text message, or phone call.

Is there a memorable interviewee?

Professor Seo Kyung-duk's content is the most memorable to me because it received the most love. Since I had worked with him before, he was the first interviewee that came to mind when I was thinking of the "Jin-guk-in" series. After all, Professor Seo is someone who is changing the world through his challenges.
Back then, there were hardly any videos on the channel, so it felt really empty. I was convinced that its identity would be established once it was filled with interview content with the professor, so I proposed the interview with all my heart.

Did you willingly agree to appear?

The professor is incredibly busy. I know this better than anyone. Nevertheless, I was truly grateful that he readily agreed to the interview. We uploaded content and held an event to coincide with Dokdo Day, and the response was excellent. I felt the true strength of Professor Seo Kyung-duk once again.

Who was this content planned with in mind?

It wasn't limited to a specific target audience. We envisioned an unspecified general public who resonate with the value of being 'genuine.' However, we only established a hypothesis that our content would resonate with those aged 25-34 who practice 'value consumption.'

I think the key was capturing the sincerity of a truly genuine person.
I heard you put a lot of effort into showing this well.

I believed that the content itself was important to effectively convey authenticity. So, I came up with a rough storyline and put a lot of effort into structuring the interview questions .
We conduct thorough preliminary research, much like excavating a cultural artifact. It is best to conduct interviews in writing beforehand, but when that is not possible, we conduct in-depth preliminary research. This is because our authenticity shines through better when we identify aspects that can be included alongside the genuine values we aim to convey and flesh them out.

I think it is also important to effectively draw out the interviewee's inner thoughts.

Interviews involve so many variables. Even if you plan the interview in a specific order, the sequence often gets jumbled once filming actually begins. Therefore, if you don't think about the overall structure beforehand, it is easy to end up asking questions that have already been answered or losing your way. When the order gets mixed up, people often panic and keep looking at the plan to ask questions, only to look at it again and ask questions; this disrupts the flow of the interview and makes it difficult to get sincere answers.

In that case, could you share your own interview tips, J?

Before an interview, I memorize the overall framework and sequence as much as possible. If I understand the flow, I don't necessarily need to look at the interview plan. I really try to use the plan only as a reference.
It is also important to make eye contact with the interviewee as much as possible while conversing. You are having a 'conversation,' not just an interview. The difference between an interview and a conversation is significant. It changes the breadth of stories you can hear. I do not think an interview is wrong simply because the questions were not asked according to the proposal. In fact, if you made more eye contact with the proposal than with the interviewee, I think that interview was flawed.
I've gone on a bit long. To summarize, my tip is to become an interviewer who memorizes the entire proposal and perfectly masters the flow!

It seemed like you went directly to the location where the interviewee was to film.
Is there a filming location that stands out the most?

Jinguk World Planning Notes

Not only the content, but the visuals were really good.
How long does it usually take from shooting to publishing to achieve this kind of quality?

Although the interview proposal process varies, we usually allocate about 3 to 4 weeks per episode.
Once filming is confirmed, we spend about 1 to 2 weeks conducting preliminary research, drafting a proposal, and preparing for the shoot. Then, we proceed with post-production for about 1 to 2 weeks.

Lastly, do you have a word for the viewers of 'Jinguk-in'?

There are truly many genuine people in the world. Even if it is not the person featured in the video , I hope you will empathize with the countless genuine individuals who make the world work and share their good values. I believe you can experience the joy of being together simply by offering your unsparing support to a genuine person whose values align with your own.
