Please introduce yourself!
안녕하세요. <진국월드> 채널을 기획하고 <진국인> 콘텐츠를 구성해 왔던 기획자 J입니다.
What is the project note we're releasing today?
진국월드의 인터뷰 시리즈인 <진국인>을 소개합니다. 말 그대로 ‘진국인’ 사람들을 인터뷰하고 가치를 풀어내는 콘텐츠예요.

<진국인>은 왜 만들게 됐나요?
“Something genuine and authentic. Or a person who embodies those qualities.”That’s the dictionary definitionof “Jinguk.” Wadiz,we call each other “Jinguk,” and we’re so committed to this word that we’ve even created a cute character to representit. We wanted to create content that showcases Jinguk,Wadizsignature identity. We wanted to continuously share and spread the values of us, the Jinguk people.

흥미로운데요. 그럼, <진국인>은 어떤 내용을 담고 있나요?
It captures the unique essence of each interviewee. While there is plenty of content that promotes positive values, we chose to shine a light on the interviewee’s entire life—rather than just a single aspect—and draw out the values that are uniquely theirs.
As we researched the interviewee, we realized that the values they pursue didn’t stem from a single event or specific detail. So,we took a comprehensive look attheirlife as a whole anddelved deeply into thekeyaspectsthatstood out.
I suppose the interviewee's life is subtly woven into the content.
That’s right. So, the key to enjoying the show is following the interviewee’s life story.
At the end, our signature closing line—“~ is the real deal”—appears, and trying to figure out what that means is part of the fun. We used to go to the set wondering, “What kind of line did the interviewee prepare?”

What criteria were used to select the national team members?
We have selected Wadiz makers and individuals who promote positive values.
It seems like so many people appeared as regulars. How did you go about casting them?
I approached them personally. When I find a true leader who is changing the world,I carefully study their life to personalize and concretize their values. Then, I worked hard to explainthe values you wanted to conveyvia email, text, or phone.
Is there an interviewee who stands out in your memory?
Professor Seo Kyung-deok’s content was the most popular, so it stands out the most in my memory. Since I had worked with him before, he was the first interviewee who came to mind when I thought of the “Jin-guk-in” series. After all, Professor Seo Kyung-deok is someone who is changing the world through his challenges.
Back then, there were only a few videos on the channel, so it felt really empty. I was convinced that once the interview content with the professor was added, our identity would be firmly established, so I proposed the interview with all my heart.
Did they agree to appear without hesitation?
You’re a very busy professor. I know that better than anyone. Still, I’m truly grateful that you so graciously agreed to this interview. We uploaded content and held an event to coincide with Dokdo Day, and the response was fantastic. It really made me appreciate once again the immense influence of Professor Seo Kyung-deok.

Was this content created with a specific audience in mind?
We didn’t limit ourselves to a specific target audience. We had in minda broad, unspecified audience that resonates with the “Jin-guk-in” values. However, we only formulated the hypothesis that our content would resonate with those aged 25–34 who practice “value-driven consumption.”

I imagine the key was capturing Jin Kuk-in’s sincerity.
I heard you put a lot of effort into conveying that?
I believed that the content itself was key to conveying authenticity. So, I came up witha rough storyline and put a lot of effort into crafting the interview questions.
We conduct thorough preliminary research, much like excavating cultural artifacts. While it’s best to conduct interviews in writing beforehand, when that’s not possible, we conduct in-depth preliminary research. By identifying elements that align with the “Jinguk-in” values we aim to capture and fleshing them out, the authenticity comes through more clearly.
I think it’s also important to draw out the interviewee’s true feelings.
There are so many variables in an interview. Even if you plan the interview in a specific order, once you actually start filming, the sequence tends to get all mixed up. So, if you don’t have the overall structure in mind, you’re likely to end up repeating questions you’ve already asked or losing your way. When the order gets mixed up, you might panic and keep referring to your script while asking questions—and then refer to it again before asking the next one. This breaks the flow of the interview and makes it difficult to elicit sincere answers.
In that case, could you share some of your own interview tips?
Before an interview, I try to memorize the general outline and sequence as much as possible. If I know the flow, I don’t necessarily need to refer to the interview outline. I make a conscious effort to use the outline purely as a reference.
It’s also important to maintain eye contact with the interviewee as much as possible while conversing. It’s not an “interview”—it’s a “conversation.” The difference between an interview and a conversation is huge. It changes the breadth of stories you can hear. I don’t think an interview is flawed just because I didn’t ask the questions exactly as written inthe outline. In fact, if I made more eye contact with the outline than with the interviewee, that interview would feel like a failure.
I’ve gone on a bit. To sum it up: become an interviewer who memorizes the entire outline and perfectly masters the flow! That’s my personal tip.

It seems like you go directly to the interviewee’s location to film.
Is there a filming location that stands out in your memory?

Not only was the content great, but the visual quality was really impressive too.
How long does it usually take from filming to publication to achieve this level of quality?
Although the process of approaching interviewees varies, we generally set aside about three to four weeks per episode.
Once filming is confirmed, we spend about one to two weeks on preliminary research, drafting the proposal, and preparing for the shoot. Then, we spend another one to two weeks on post-production.
Finally, do you have a message for the viewers of *Jin Guk-in*?
There are truly many remarkable people in the world. Even if you don’t personally know the person featured in the video, I hope you can relate to the countless remarkable individuals who make the world go round and share their positive values.I believe you’ll find joy in simply offering your wholehearted support to those whose values align with your own.
