Due to the milder-than-usual weather, demand for winter outdoor and leisure activities is on the rise.
Wadizlife design crowdfunding platform Wadizannounced that the number of supporters participating in winter leisure and outdoor crowdfunding campaigns increased by 187% compared to the same period last month, leading to a significant rise in transaction volume for the category.
According to an analysis of sales figures from Wadiz crowdfunding campaigns and pre-orders during the first and second weeks of January, sales in the sports and mobility category grew by 343% and those in the leisure and outdoor category by 266% compared to the previous month. In particular, as demand surged among those looking to enjoy winter outdoor activities, both funding targets and sales for camping products rose across the board.
The easy-to-set-up "One-Touch Tent" raised over 100 million won in crowdfunding, while other products such as car mats, camping carts, and sleeping bags also achieved an average of 5,200% of their funding goals, generating an average of 30 million won in sales.
Winter leisure items also saw strong sales Wadiz, which sells products from successful Wadiz crowdfunding campaigns. A two-day themed event titled “Winter Camping & Leisure” was held on January 15–16, resulting in a 198% increase in sales compared to the same period the previous week (January 8–9). In particular, the “Pet Dry Coat,” an outdoor jacket created by Grills Union, generated approximately three times the sales of the previous week during that period.
The growth in winter leisure and outdoor activities was largely driven by product curation tailored to the preferences of Wadiz ’s core target audience—those in their 20s and 30s. This success stems from Wadizcollaborating with makers in the “camping” sector—which has seen explosive growth Wadiz, particularly in spring and fall—to plan and launch products suitable for the winter season. Analysts note that the increase in transaction volume was also driven by the growing number of makers launching new products via Wadiz crowdfunding each season, as well as efforts to boost visibility and customer acquisition through category- and season-specific promotional campaigns.
