Ten top makers who made a big splash in the 2022 funding market have been selected.

Life design crowdfunding platform Wadizannounced on the 29th that it successfully concluded its “2022 Year-End Special Maker Day” event for startups and creators preparing for crowdfunding campaigns, held on the 28th in Yeoksam-dong, Seoul.

Maker Day is a platform for education and networking for all makers in South Korea, and has been the country’s largest funding event held both online and offline since 2014. This year’s event, which began in Busan in August and continued in Daegu in October, culminates here in Gangnam, Seoul, as part of an effort to expand the startup ecosystem across different regions.

Approximately 650 people attended the Maker Day events in Busan and Daegu, and about 400 of those teams immediately launched crowdfunding projects, leading to the assessment that Maker Day served as a springboard for their crowdfunding efforts.

Jeon Eun-kyung, CEO of “Tomin”—a carbonated beverage brand that has raised a cumulative 500 million won by utilizing local agricultural products and natural ingredients—stated in an interview with a media outlet, “I started without knowing anything about online business and learned the ropes and sales techniques through Wadiz.” She added, “You need to be proactive when learning. I attended all the Wadiz lectures and consistently participated in the meetings,” she explained, emphasizing that Wadiz School was a major factor in the success of her funding campaign.

This event was a year-end special Maker Day to wrap up the year, with approximately 220 companies participating in Gangnam, Seoul.  In particular, Jang Jeong-hoon, CEO of “Minding Master Group”—which secured 500 million won in funding for its “Non-Melting Ice Maker Jewel Ice,” expanded into retail stores, and won first place at theWadiz Awards 2022”—took the stage as a speaker to share the secrets to his funding success.

As this Maker Day was held as a year-end special, we prepared a variety of benefits. We provided a guidebook for successful fundraising, and pre-registered teams received group consulting to help them establish their funding strategies. We also held a prize giveaway event for attendees, featuring prizes ranging from the “Jinro Dispenser”—the most popular product of 2022—to “1:1 consulting coupons.”

Jang Min-young, the team leader Wadiz who organized the event, said, “We launchedWadiz Maker Day to meet makers from across the country and address their needs.” She added, “It was meaningful to wrap up 2022 with the largest turnout yet, as Maker Day has consistently been a huge success, with spots filling up quickly every time.”
