A Wadiz Intern's Product Review: Hands-On Experience at a Crowdfunding Event
What could be so delicious that you wouldn’t even notice if one of you died while eating it?
A strong contender for that title is waiting for you at today’s crowdfunding event.
The luxury dessert chosen by Mansour—the one that’s made it onto every must-try list for shopping in Dubai—is none other than Batel Dates.
Let's get started with the crowdfunding event!
Dubai's Must-Visit Shopping List: Batel Date

Ta-da! Today’s star, the dessert brand “Battil,” is said to be a favorite of the Dubai royal family. No wonder the packaging looked so luxurious.
The reward set included stationery, envelopes, and even a shopping bag, so whether you’re receiving or giving a gift, it’s sure to put a smile on your face.

Ta-da!
Dates are often called a gift from God, so let me tell you a little more about Batil Dates.
Dates are the fruit of the palm tree mentioned in the Bible. They’re similar to jujubes, but they come from a completely different plant! Grown under the intense Middle Eastern sun, dates have a rich, luxurious sweetness and a chewy, addictive texture.
Apparently, Batildates is actually supplying products to the royal families of Mansour and Bin Salman. At this point, aren’t you just dying to know what they taste like? I certainly was 🤤
Heavenly texture, Batildates?
If it’s so delicious that you wouldn’t even notice if one of you died while eating it, then taste must be the most important thing, right?
Batildates (Cassandra Rectangle Small) comes in five varieties. You can choose from roasted almonds, caramelized pecans, caramelized cashews, pistachios, and orange peel—it’s great that there are so many options to enjoy.

As the "Munchy Doctor" at the crowdfunding event, I sampled all the different varieties 🐷
Roasted almonds

A flavor that stays true to the original taste. This flavor really brought out the chewy texture of the dates, and the crunchy almonds kept things interesting.🤍
Caramel-coated pecans / cashews
The one on the left is a pecan, and the one on the right is a cashew. The pecans and cashews inside the dates were sweet—almost like picking out the darkest-colored popcorn at the movie theater—and their texture was more than just crunchy.
The cashews tasted a bit like coffee-flavored peanuts. For some reason, I just couldn’t help reaching for them… It’s the kind of taste that makes you grab one, then another, and before you know it, the whole bag is gone.
Pistachio

Crunch—not the kind of pistachio that crumbles, but one with a satisfyingly firm bite. The pistachios, too, seemed to have a clean coating, giving them a texture that was more “firm” than “hard,” which paired perfectly. Chewy + firm = a match made in heaven 💚
Orange Peel

Orange Peel Dates, where the tart and refreshing flavor of the orange stands out more than the sweetness of the sugar. I think the combination of the refreshing, chewy orange peel and the sticky, soft dates creates a flavor that truly embodies the essence of a dessert.
So, Batildates...
I’ll be honest. When I first tried Batildates, I was like, “Huh? What is this?” I was totally confused. It was a texture and flavor I’d never experienced before. Rather than saying it was “good” or “bad,” my first reaction was, “This is so weird…!” It was an exotic flavor I’d never tasted before—something you just can’t find in Korea. But strangely enough, the next day, I found myself thinking about it over and over again. You little rascal 😎
To put it simply, it’s a flavor that keeps coming back to me. I always find myself thinking about it the very next day. It’s just like mala tang or Pyeongyang naengmyeon—dishes that tend to be a love-it-or-hate-it kind of thing, yet they also have a huge following of devoted fans.

Gone in a flash—Bathildates sold out in just one day
I didn’t think of it as a dessert with a bold, intense flavor that hits the tongue right away, but rather as one that relies on its texture and subtle nuances. That was the moment I realized, “This is what a high-end dessert is all about.”
What was surprising was that even though it was so sweet, it was 100% date palm, with no additives and no sugar. I think it would be a great way for health-conscious people to satisfy their sweet tooth.
Just a pipe dream in Korea?
