What kind of content do you consume the most these days? Nine times out of ten, it’s ‘short-form.’ Short-form content refers to videos under one minute in length. Not only are social media platforms like Reels, Shorts, and TikTok embracing this trend, but other platforms are now jumping into the short-form market as well. This is because the value of short-form content is being recognized as going beyond mere snackable content for killing time.

Did you know thatWadizlaunched its short-form video service quite early on?
In this section, we met Product Owner* "Small Money," who created the short-form service "1-Minute Funding." We spoke with Small Money, who develops user exploration and search experience products, about why Wadizlaunched a short-form service and its impact. Here is the interview.
*Product Owner

The short-form service "1-Minute Funding." Could you explain exactly what it is?
🧑 Small Money 1-Minute Funding is a service that lets you watch short-form videos. The service name is “Enjoying the Funding Life in Under a Minute”. Any Wadiz user—whether a maker or a supporter—can create a short video of less than one minute showing how their daily life has changed through funding/pre-order projects or the store, and share it via 1-Minute Funding. In this way, shared stories encourage other users to participate in projects, sign support petitions, and offer encouragement, fostering a positive crowdfunding culture.
A video capturing our new daily lives—how cool is that? What changes will we see in our daily lives through crowdfunding, pre-orders, and the store?
🧑 Little Money, there are everyday routines we repeat over and over, like meals, cleaning, and laundry. From stories about how crowdfunding and pre-order products fit into supporters’ daily lives to stories about store products that make a slightly different lifestyle possible—there’s a truly diverse range of videos on 1-Minute Funding. Whether you’re interested in hobbies like camping and travel, or Wadiz flagship categories like tech and home appliances and beauty—if you’re curious about the everyday lives created by Wadiz users, you’ll be able to sample and enjoy 1-Minute Funding to your heart’s content!

Video platforms usually have creators, right? So, who are the creators on 1-Minute Funding?
🧑 There are two main types of creators on Wadiz: makers who want to showcase their products and projects to supporters through videos, and supporters who want to share funding campaigns, pre-orders, and store updates—things that would be a shame to keep to themselves. They are all Wadizusers.

A crowdfunding platform and a short-form video channel. It feels a bit unusual, yet it works well together. How did you come to create it?
🧑 " Small Money 1-Minute Funding" is a service we first launched with the goal of" making the platform fun for visitors and encouraging them to explore more projects!"It started as an .
*Minimum Viable Product
So this service was inspired by the keywords “fun” and “exploration.” Why did you think these two elements were necessary?
🧑 Little Money One Monday morning, I was having tea with my colleagues and catching up on what we’d been up to over the weekend. We talked about everything from taking the kids to the sample corner at a big supermarket to spending two whole days watching short-form videos. Before we knew it, our conversation led to the thought: “With user preferences changing, shouldn’t our platform offer a service like a sample corner?”
At the time, we were deeply concerned that users visiting Wadizfor advertising and marketing purposes were leaving after viewing only one project per visit. We hypothesizedthat if we created a service— similar to a tasting corner where anyone could easily sample and enjoyprojects—based on short-form content, users visiting Wadizwould explore more projects driven by positive emotions like fun. That’s how 1-Minute Funding began.

How long did it take you to plan and launch 1-Minute Funding?
🧑 It took less than a month to bring " Small Money 1-Minute Funding" from concept to launch. This was only possible thanks to my colleagues’ brilliant ideas and quick decision-making. Since we launched in April 2023, we’re already approaching our first anniversary. (Laughs)

It must have been quite a challenge to launch a service on a platform that didn’t previously offer video content. How were you able to launch the service in such a short time?
🧑 To verify whether a hypothesis is correct , the best thing a product developer can do is “build fast and validate fast.”
To play videos, we would need to set up a separate streaming server. However, since developing one involves significant human and financial resources, it’s difficult to do it “quickly.” So we decided to use YouTube. We figured there was no need to build a streaming server or anything like that ourselves.
In particular, many creators—who are our primary users—were already using YouTube to promote their projects. The fact that we could reduce the operational burden of sourcing and managing content after the service launched was a major draw.
I think the key point was figuring out how to build it quickly with minimal costs and resources. So, did you manage to validate your hypothesis quickly? I’m curious to hear the results.
🧑 Unlike my stock portfolio, which is currently in the red, Little Money is thriving, breaking through its previous highs every quarter and turning green. (Laughs)
The number of projects viewed per user—which had previously been just a hypothesis—increased by about 1.3 times. This figure is approximately 3.6 times higher than that of users who have not experienced 1-Minute Funding. Page views have also increased by about 5.7 times compared to the initial launch period, and revenue generated through detail page conversions has risen by about 4.5 times.

The performance of 1-Minute Funding, which continues to trend upward, breaking through previous highs every quarter
As a Product Owner responsible for a single product, there’s a phrase I keep reminding myself of: “You can’t create a perfect product in one go.” It took n deployments to validate the hypothesis. I prioritize quickly validating the ideas—or hypotheses—that come to mind, and if the hypothesis is correct, we evolved the product in the direction users wantedthrough those n deployments.

First Improvement: Not getting enough views? → Let’s improve the user flow!
Phase 2: Page views are up! Now let’s try to increase the click-through rate. → Let’s improve the design!
3rd Improvement: It seems like there isn't enough content since the service is still in its early stages! → Let's try crawling the content from the detail pages!
…
Iteration n: It's hard for users to discover content they like! → Let's provide a browsing feature organized by interest categories!
If you've made n deployments, checking the results of those n deploymentsis crucial. This is because, in addition to validating your initial hypotheses, reviewing key metrics allows you to confirm whether the service is growing in the right direction. The ‘1-Minute Funding’ service continues to evolve step by step in the direction users want, using this approach.

Where can I watch "1-Minute Funding"? If you’ve created an engaging viewing experience, you’ve likely given careful thought to where to showcase it and how to make it accessible.
🧑 Hey, Small Money! You can now find 1-Minute Funding on the main (home) screen of our mobile app. Just tap and swipe right on the main (home) screen, and it’ll pop up right away. It’s also available as a menu item called “Today’s 1-Minute Funding” on the main (home) screen. We wanted to add a bit of fun—like an unexpected discovery—without disrupting your existing browsing experience.

If you swipe left on the mobile app’s main screen, you’ll see the 1-Minute Funding video.

The number of people consuming short-form content and the number of services utilizing it continue to grow. What does the future hold for 1-Minute Funding?
🧑 Small Money, the primary goal of 1-Minute Funding was to “make sure users visiting the platform have fun and explore more projects!” We achieved that over the past year. Now, we’re thinking about and preparing for what comes next.
From a user experience perspective, our current content delivery model is limited to providing category-based browsing features. We are exploring the implementation of personalized recommendation technology. We expect that by delivering content based on users’ interests, we can lock them into the service and encourage more visits and exploration.
From a business model perspective, I want to maximize traffic to 1-Minute Funding so we can also use it as an advertising platform. After all, traffic on an IT service platform ultimately translates into revenue. If we can generate new revenue through advertising, we can reinvest it into the service to further accelerate our growth.
From the perspective of creating a virtuous cycle across the entire service, we’re exploring ways to increase user engagement. A service is something we build together with our users. To capture the stories of users who have experienced Wadiz projects and the store, we’re also getting help fromWadiz Creator Club (Wadiz Short-Form Video Creators), a group of creators dedicated to producing short-form videos. We expect that stories from users who have personally experienced Wadizwill encourage participation from those who haven’t, and that this participation will lead to various forms of engagement—such as supporting signatures, sharing, experience reviews, and short-form videos—ultimately creating a virtuous cycle for the entire service.
